Lemon broccoli pasta

I’ve been cooking a lot of pasta lately and I’ve decided to try new recipes to fight the pasta monotony (that is, the same 3 pasta recipes over and over again). And this lemon and broccoli pasta is one of my new additions. I found the recipe in Alissa’s Saenz blog Connoisseurus Veg. It is a simple straight forward pasta that can be put together in no time. And with just 3 ingredients + spices you have a beautiful meal.

The lemon juice and lemon zest give this pasta a nice kick to it. Feel free to add as much as you like. You can also spice it up with some red pepper flakes. I didn’t to it because I knew it would not fly with kids, but I’m sure they will give this pasta another layer of flavor.

Lemon broccoli pasta

A delicious pasta with just 3 ingredients + spices that can be put together in less than 30 min. A great week night meal!


  • 1 lb short pasta 
  • 5 cups broccoli florets (1 large or 2 small crowns)
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • olive oil
  • salt 
  • pepper


  1. Boil the pasta in a big pot with salted water according the package instructions. 1 minute before the cooking time is over, add the broccoli and let cook for 1 min. 
  2. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. 
  3. Sauté the garlic in a pan with olive oil until it’s golden brown and fragrant. 
  4. Stir in the pasta and broccoli and remove from heat.
  5. Add lemon juice, lemon zest, pepper and salt if needed. 
  6. Adjust taste to your liking.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
